Transportation Guidelines

Learners are to be at their assigned bus stop at least 5 minutes before pick-up time. If you are not visible to the driver within your assigned time, the bus will not stop. The bus will not return.

The supervision of learners to, from or at bus stops is the parent/guardian's responsibility. 

Parents/Guardians of kindergarten learners:  A responsible individual must be present at a bus drop-off before a kindergarten learner may exit the bus. If no one is present, the learner will remain on the bus while the Transportation Department makes attempts to contact a parent/guardian. (Please have current contact information updated in the Parent Portal.) In the event that a parent/guardian cannot be reached, the learner will be returned to their elementary school until a pick up can be arranged. 

Learners are NOT permitted to ride on buses other than the one they are assigned. Early dismissal, notes from parents asking to visit friends/family, rides due to parental or learner work schedules and vacation schedules will not be permitted. If there is a VALID emergency, bus changes will be determined by the Transportation Department on an individual basis.

District policy requires parents to place their child at one consistent bus stop location, Monday though Friday. Learners are to have one designated AM pick-up and one designated PM drop-off stop. However, you are permitted to have a bus stop location for your child's pick-up that is different from the child's drop-off location as long as it is the same Monday through Friday. The alternating of stops on different days IS NOT PERMITTED.  

Transportation arrangements can be made for pick-up or drop-off at one of the district approved day care facilities: New Holland Church of the Nazarene (Kinderhaus), New Holland Early Learning Center and Bowmansville Mennonite Church. Learners are required to have one designated morning pick-up and one designated afternoon drop-off address. Example 1: If your child attends Kinderhaus in the morning three days a week, you will be responsible for putting your child on the bus at Kinderhaus two days a week for morning pick-up. Example 2: If your child attends Kinderhaus in the afternoon three days a week, our bus will drop off your learner at Kinderhaus five days a week.
