Weather Emergencies/School Closings

To receive the information you need regarding inclement weather updates and closures, we will communicate with you through phone call, text and email when there will be a change in our schedule or operations due to a weather emergency.  This process will be used for school closures, delayed openings or early dismissals.

The information we will be using to send these messages will be based on the contact information for each child in PowerSchool.  To receive the communications, your contact information will need to be up-to-date in PowerSchool.  To confirm that your contact information is up-to-date, log in to your child’s account through the website (not the app) and see if there is a green checkmark next to their name.  If yes, then that means the information has been updated this year.  If you don’t see a green checkmark, these directions will help you access PowerSchool and your child’s information.

The update process only needs to be completed once per year, or if your contact information changes.  The update process takes about five minutes to complete.  Once you’ve confirmed your contact information, there are no other apps or signups you will need to manage to receive closure updates.

If you have any questions or need your child’s ID number, please contact our office staff via email:  registration@elanco.org

Additionally, we will be posting information related to closures on our district website, the ELANCO District social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), the digital sign on our secondary campus, and with WGAL-TV.  Other stations may report Eastern Lancaster County School District closings and delays but we are not responsible for providing them with the information.
