5th Grade Learner Wins 1st Place in the Hershey Story Writing Contest!

Recently, fifth grade learner at New Holland Elementary, Ava Reese, earned the honor of 1st place in the Junior Fiction category of the Hershey Story Museum Writing Contest! 🥇👏 The annual writing contest received over 300 entries from 5th-8th graders all across Central PA!

Ava, along with nine more learners in Mrs. Lenahan's 5th & 6th grade Language Arts enrichment group, was inspired to write after reading the book, "Refugee" by Alan Gratz. Her historical fiction piece chronicled the plight of Cuban refugees in 1994. Ava was honored at the 36th annual Hershey Business Partners in Education Annual Breakfast on May 1st.

Congratulations to Ava and all who were willing to give their writing an authentic audience!
