Update, Monday, Tuesday, September 6, 2021 - Message from Superintendent, Dr. Robert Hollister and School Board President, Mr. Thomas Wentzel Regarding Mask Mandate Issued by the PA Health Secretary and Governor Wolf
Good evening Parents and Guardians:
The Board of Directors met this evening with the District Solicitor (Attorney) in Executive Session to gain a better understanding of the law regarding the recent mask order. Our desire is to have all students, in person, learning this school year. While we are frustrated with the Department of Health’s sudden Order, we must follow it. Because of the exemption clause found within and the time that it may take families to acquire a doctor’s note to excuse mask-wearing, the district is instituting a grace period for those families who plan to acquire the exemption through their doctor. The grace period ends no later than September 20. Information and requirements for obtaining the exemption will be available on the website Tuesday, September 7, 2021 (under Covid 19 information)/updates. We ask all to be patient during the coming weeks as conditions evolve, and more information comes forth.
A reminder to all parents: For your safety and the safety of our learners, parents are reminded that they may not disembark their vehicles if they are dropping off their students at any of the schools. Further, several social media posts indicate a desire for some to protest. While “protesting” has a long and powerful history in the formation of our Country as a respected vehicle to facilitate change, protesting may not occur directly on school property.
Robert M. Hollister

President of Eastern Lancaster County School Board
