Kindergarten Eligibility

A child is eligible for admission to Kindergarten if s/he has attained the age of five (5) years before September 1st.

The Board may admit to Kindergarten a child who is below entry age but demonstrates readiness for entry by September 1st, upon the written request of the parent/guardian, recommendation of the district psychologist, and approval of the Superintendent. (ELANCO School Board, Admission of Students § 201.2)

Kindergarten Registration

Parents can schedule an appointment for Tues., May 1, 2018 12 pm - 7 pm
Kindergarten registration by calling the District Wed., May 2, 2018 12 pm - 7 pm
Office at 717-354-1552 weekdays between Thurs., May 3, 2018 8 am - 2 pm
8:00 am and 3:30 pm. Appointments should be scheduled by April 20, 2018.

Preregister Online

In order to have everything ready for you at your appointment, you will need to complete our preregistration process online by clicking on the link below, the ELANCO Registration Portal, before April 20, 2018. The preregistration process should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

At Your Scheduled Appointment

You will meet with registration personnel and a school nurse while your child meets with a teacher for screening. The registration process will take approximately 30 minutes. In order to complete registration, you will need to bring with you ALL of the documents listed below. We will make copies of the original documents and return them to you. Please refer to the related files and links below to obtain forms or additional information for the registration process.
  • Health Inventory Form, filled out in advance
  • Internet Policy Agreement, filled out in advance (Please read ELANCO's Acceptable Use of Internet/Network & Safety Policy)
  • Your child's birth certificate
  • Your child's immunization record*
  • Proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement)
  • Custody Agreement, if applicable
The Physical Form and the Dentist Form need to be completed prior to the first day of school. If you have them completed by registration, you can bring them along and they will be kept with your student's record.
* The Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations require all children enrolling for the first time to have the following immunizations before starting school:
  • DPT Vaccine - 4 or more properly spaced doses with one administered after the fourth birthday
  • Polio Vaccine - 3 properly spaced doses
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (German Measles) Vaccine - given after 12 months of age and a second properly spaced dose of Measles and Mumps (preferably given as MMR II)
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine - 3 properly spaced doses
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox) Immunity - Vaccine given after 12 months of age and a second properly spaced dose is required or a written statement of having had the disease
