“Empowering Learners as Global Thinkers and Producers”

Welcome to the Eastern Lancaster County School District. Ours is a moderately-sized rural school district with suburban and urban influences. We recognize that our beliefs, our values, and all that make us a unique community is, in fact, a part of the larger global-community. As such, we are keenly aware that school cannot look or feel like the schools that many of us experienced only a decade or a few ago. Our graduates need to be “global-ready” so that they can successfully participate in the world economy and act responsibly with insight regarding the politics, cultural, and social issues of our time and of our future.

Here in our district, we are boldly charting a course that sets student achievement levels far above those established by the Commonwealth in the form of the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA), the School Performance Profile (SPP) and Future Ready PA Index. While we value all that is assessed through the state required measurements, we also recognize that true student success will depend on broader 21st -century skill sets and global-readiness competencies which we embed in our curriculum and daily learning activities. A personalized agile learning organizational structure allows students to explore passions and further pursue and capitalize on their strengths. Academic programs for students are enhanced and made complete through a wide array of extra-curricular activities. The characteristics of teamwork, self-discipline, self-respect, and determination are further woven into students’ fabric through these extracurricular and athletic pursuits.

The inherent work ethic and culture of the community is demonstrated every day in classrooms. Student work ethic is high and achievement results are high because of the efforts of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and parents. Parent support is paramount and positive. Students in the district are learning in regularly updated facilities with state-of-the-art technology. High quality teachers are employed by the District and continuous professional growth and training is a major.

As Superintendent, I assure you that our team of professional faculty and support staff members understand the seriousness of their mission and embraces the challenges that come with engaging with their learners in 21st -century schools.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us better.
