| Technology Plan |
Each public school district in the state of Pennsylvania is required by federal and state funding mandates to have adopted and filed a district technology plan. This plan, developed by the district and approved by the local Board of Education and Pennsylvania State Department of Education, is to act as the blueprint for the planning and implementation of district technology. ELANCO's three year educational technology plan (2009-2011) was approved by our local Board of Education on 10/26/2008. As part of the E-strategic plan (master educational plan for the district) this plan is not considered to be a static document but as a dynamic tool to map out implementation of technologies throughout the district. As such, our Technology Steering Committee is conducting a needs assessment. The needs assessment comprises of technology need/use surveys to staff, students, and community members. The surveys will serve to get a better understanding within the district concerning how people are using technology and what our immediate technological needs are.
The Technology Steering Committee convenes to assess the degree of success in meeting the goals and objectives of the current plan, assist in the continuous development of the plan, and to provide valuable input to the administration regarding the role technology should play in the district's future. As the district moves forward with technology, the committee will continue to meet on a monthly basis to discuss new educational technology, strategies of implementation and ways we can support/encourage its use.
